If you like shopping, you’ll love Plymouth! In this feature we would like to tell you a bit more about what Plymouth has in store for those of you who wish to have a great shopping experience whilst on a Plymouth City Break.

With the festive season fast approaching, finding those perfect Christmas gifts for your loved ones is on everybody’s mind. Plymouth has a lot to offer whether you on the look out for some well-known brands or independent local retailers… Plymouth has it all.
The Plymouth City Centre will spoil you with choice from a large Debenhams and House of Fraser  outlets situated in the main shopping district, leading onto our popular Drakes Circus shopping mall. In the mall you will find many famous brands like Next, H&M, Top Shop, Joules, Oasis, Monsoon, a large Boots store, M&S, Drakes Jewellers, Lush and many more.

Aside from the large stores, many great brands have also smaller stores here in Plymouth like Laura Ashley, Bodyshop and Flannels as well as Thornton’s the master chocolatier and Hotel Chocolait.

Another popular shopping hub is the large Plymouth City Centre Market. The market holds over 100 stalls and small shopping units within and is home to a wide variety of family-run stalls selling a diverse range of arts and crafts, clothes, books, hand crafted jewellery, computer accessories and more.

We suggest you start from the Historical Barbican, where led by the narrow cobbled lanes you can explore what our local craftspeople and artists have to offer. Starting with the Plymouth Gin shop which is stocked well with perfect gift ideas and the popular Plymouth Sloe Gin will please even the pickiest gin lovers.

Next along Southside Street your mouth will water with the sweet smells coming from Choccachino offering a delightful range of sweets and chocolates to try. Further along the Southside street is the House that Jack Built, a true Barbican gem. It is a real Aladdin’s Cave, unraveling more and more fantastic shopping units the further you go inside…

Starting with the fantastic Rockpool Trading, Gosh and Absolutely and many more you can shop in a relaxing atmosphere, no hassle and bustle and with great help of friendly shop owners. We must not forget to also mention the Clay Art opposite where you can purchase various pottery pieces and decorate them for the true personalized gift idea.

The Plymouth Barbican is also well known for being home to wonderful art galleries. Another place worth visiting is Victoria Stewart’s shop, offering bespoke contemporary jewellery made by local artists.

Down the end of Southside Street you’ll come across 27 New Street shopping arcade full of antiques and offering a host of unique gift ideas from independentcrafters. Also visit Parade Antiques a popular Antiques shop filled wall to wall with antiques and a few items from poplar films and TV series…
